Sqn Ldr Grubb with P71 member Richard Shilvock laying a wreath on behalf of the RAF at Oosterbeek cemetery 2017
On Saturday 14th October Project 71 Member Sarah Vincent cycled just over 100 miles round 16 British & Allied Cemeteries in Normandy in France, laying a poppy at each one.
Sarah completed the journey in the dark, in fog, in hot sun and then the last few hours in the dark and fog which slowed her down but she made it back to the ferry at Ouistreham with just an hour to spare before catching the ferry back to Portsmouth and to Luis Rodriguez at Hotel d'arromanches for feeding and watering Sarah and giving here a well earned break before she had to battle with the hill on the way out of the town. In doing so she smashed her target of £1500 in fact going on to double it!
A huge thank you to everybody that supported her, sponsored her, saw her off and were there at stupid o'clock on Sunday morning with coffee and bacon butties to greet her when she got back to Portsmouth. Every single penny that Sarah has raised will go towards supporting our WW2 Veterans.
You can hear both of her interviews with BBC Radio Solent to the right.
